Q: What makes your work different from everyone else's?

A. In a world of bright/airy + dark/moody photographers, Jasper K is on a whole other level with vibrant, bold, + rich colors. The staged whimsical + romantic photos are great, but the candid, organic moments of genuine laughter, heartfelt tears, killer dance moves, + true love at it's finest is what Jasper K is all about. 

I gotchu with those fire picturesque portraits of you + your boo for IG, those classic family formals your family will proudly share on their FB walls, + allllllllllll of those little(+big) moments in between.

I do my best to capture every crazy perfect moment as they unfold to give you memories that you, your fam, + all your future littles will treasure forever. 

I will always go the extra mile to make sure you are happy + things are running smoothly. Think of me as an honorary bestie who will always go above + beyond for you to make sure you have a kick ass best day ever. I want you to look back + feel eagles while reminiscing on the memories of your wedding day. 

 

Q: Where are you based? Do you travel?

A. I am based in Albuquerque, but I service all of New Mexico (and branching to Colorado). My entire family (minus my two sisters + I) live in Taos so traveling throughout northern New Mexico is never a problem for me. I love to travel so if you're planning a wedding somewhere not in the Land of Enchantment and headset that you want me to photograph your big day, the answer is YAAAS, I’ll be there for you.

Q: WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?

A: I have professional Canon full frame cameras + backups, various lenses, flash + LED lighting, batteries + memory cards galore. Everything I could possibly need for me + my team to do our job exceptionally!

Q: what should we wear to our engagement sesh?

A. While this will vary from session to session, there are some general rules that can be followed:

  • Avoid neon colors. Rich, earthy tones + soft, creamy neutrals photograph much better, + won't leave color casts on the skin. Avoid busy patterns (including plaid or jungle animal  print). 
  • It's best to choose colors + outfits that compliment one another, rather than match identically. Plus, your bodies won't blend together + leave you with floating heads in your images. 
  • Avoid clothing with any noticeable logos.
  • Layers + textures are your friends. They'll add a bit of contrast + visual interest to your photos. 
  • Don't be afraid to accessorize! Statement necklaces, floral crowns, turquoise jewelry, or chunky bracelets can be the final touch your outfit(s) need. 

Remember, the clothing you choose will play a big role in the style + feel of the session so have fun, choose pieces you really love, + most importantly; that will make you feel as fantastic as you look. #comfyiskey

Q: The Support Group (along with fantastic photos you get added to be a part of a rad little community).

Once you decide to book me, you will be added to the private support group via Facebook (once we become FB friendsies) that has past + present Jasper K couples in there! I post tips, suggestions, ideas on what’s best for photos, recommendations of other bad ass wedding vendors (coordinators, cake, florists, etc). Some of the other couples in the group sometimes post in there seeking advice or referrals from past couples who have already had their wedding. I find it super helpful as well since I am also a bride that will be getting married in fall of 2019. It’s an amazing little community + helpful support group. Weddings are cray cray stressful as it is so it’s pretty cool to have a group of friends that are in the same boat as you to help along the way.

 

Q: We are awkward in front of the camera… is that okay?

A: Absolutely! 99% of my couples tell me how awkward it is to be in front of the camera. I totally get it, I get anxious being in front of the camera as well. And don’t even get me started on my S/O (he haaaaaates getting his photo taken. Pretty ironic that he’s engaged to a wedding photog, right?), anywho.. it’s totally okay! It’s my job to make you feel as comfortable as possible while bringing out your true, genuine, silly selves. You don’t have to have any modeling experience whatsoever. All you have to do is be honest, open, and remind each other of how amazing your love is. I promise, we will have a great time + get some super rad photos!

Q: Do you photograph same-sex couples?

A: YAS absolutely. Jasper K is proud to serve the LGBTQ+ community. I believe all love stories deserve to be celebrated. <3

Q: We want an engagement session, do your packages include them?

A. My all inclusive packages does, the others don't! I love engagement sessions because it allows us to get to know each other before the wedding (you definitely want to meet the gal who will be following y'all around the day of your wedding with her camera) and it captures the funnest part of planning your wedding; being engaged! Although I don’t include them in every package, I definitely feel that every couple should consider adding on an engagement session to their package of choice because it gives us a chance to get to know each other better, hang out, + you get the chance to use some pretty rad pictures for your save the dates, Christmas cards, or to make your mom a “#ProfessionalCutiePies” mug for her birthday.

Q: ARE YOU INSURED? MY VENUE REQUIRES IT!

A. YES!! I have a two million dollar liability insurance, a hefty amount of back-up camera gear + insurance on each piece of my gear.

Q: Who will photograph my wedding? 

A: You are guaranteed Jasmine as your primary lead photographer + one of our trusted associate photographers with Collection III or the all inclusive package. Associate lead photographer wedding packages are available upon request in the event that Jasmine is booked for your wedding date. 

Q: Would you ever consider barter/trade in exchange for Photography services? 

A: I LOVE to barter so if you ever have a skill, connection, service, or product (no MLM, please) that you'd like to trade for photography services, please let me know!!! 

Things I'm specifically looking for: dental care, house cleaning, massages, tattoos, landscaping services, or any type of wedding service trade (I'm hustling planning a wedding myself, LOL), but I'm open to other trades as well. Gift cards/coffee/food/POP! Funko's are always ay-okay in my book. :D must be dollar for dollar trade + must be okay with signing a contract to make it legit af. 

Q: HAVE YOU SHOT AT MY VENUE BEFORE?

A: If I haven’t - I promise it doesn’t matter! I always go location scouting before weddings if it’s a venue I haven’t been to before, so I promise I’m always as prepared as I need to be. It’s always so fun shooting at new venues – that way my inspiration is totally fresh and organic for your unique celebration! 

Q: DO YOU OFFER MILITARY DISCOUNTS?

A: I appreciate + honor your service to our country + am more than happy to give back in any way. Just let me know when you inquire + I'll tell you the discounts I can offer you :)

Q: SO CAN WE BRING OUR DOG?

A: Ab-so-freaking-lutely. Fur babies are always invited to your portrait sesh!

Q: How far in advance should I book?

A: It’s never too early to inquire and lock me in as your wedding photog, but best advice I can give is to book about a year to a year and a half out. May, June, September and October are very popular wedding months!

Q: What if I’m eloping? Or planning my wedding in a very short amount of time?

A: Again, it’s never too early (or too late!) to inquire! As long as I have your date available, I’ll be there!

Q: What if you aren’t available for my date?

A: No worries whatsoever! I have a kick ass lead associate shooter named Jenna who has gotchu. She works for me when I am already booked for your date! She acts as the head honcho on your wedding day while all the communication, booking + planning still go through me. I will still edit all the photos, Jenna will just make sure you get rad photos on your wedding day. She's also my little sister so she's just like a mini version of me even down to the creativity + keen eye for portraiture. Check out some of the weddings she has shot for me HERE!

Q: What is required for booking?

A: I will send you the contract + invoice through my client portal. I require that a retainer of 30% of the total balance (it is applied to your full balance) to book. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding. Yay to simplicity!

Q: Speaking of elopements -- Are elopements priced differently?

A: Yes! I offer a DOPE discount for intimate weddings + elopements in really cool places.

Q: CAN WE MEET FOR AN IN-PERSON MEETING BEFORE WE BOOK?

A: Choosing a wedding photographer is a HUGE decision - as a bride planning my own wedding + wedding photographer, know that I fully understand + respect that to the max! It is SO important that we like each other + get along (your wedding photog spends the most time with you on your wedding day more than any other vendor). I want you to get whatever you need to feel comfortable + confident that you're making the right decision. I am always up for meeting over some yummy appetizers + drinks to talk about alllll the sweet details. If in person meet ups aren't your thing, we can plan a Skype/FaceTime sesh, phone call, or chat over email. 


the ones about money ::


Q: I read on your pricing page that you are open to talking about budgets: Can you elaborate on this? I want to hire you, but your pricing does not fit my budget.  

A: Let’s be real; money can get real awkward to talk about, but it doesn’t have to be. I’m alllllllllll about open communication + transparency. As a full time wedding photog, I don’t have a 401k or health benefits that come with a corporate company. I pay for everything out of pocket (which takes a LOT of hard work). Even though, I truly WANT to work with any budget (and I always, ALWAYS try my hardest to!), unfortunately, it’s not always possible if I can’t afford the roof over my head or to feed my hangry family. 

Don't worry, there are a few things that I’ll always work with to help cut down expenses. Here's a list of a few below:

  • your wedding is on any day, but Saturday (Taco Tuesday or Thirsty Thursday weddings, HOLLA!)
  • your wedding is last minute + right around the corner (less than 3-6 months away)
  • your wedding is in off season (November-March) 

Q: How can I pay?

A: I’ll send you an invoice through my client portal. I also accept cash, checks, PayPal, Venmo, + Apple Pay.

 

Q: Do you offer payment plans? 

A: YES! I know that weddings can be pricey and I want to make this entire experience as stress-free as possible. I offer monthly or bi-monthly payments plans. :)

 

Q: Can my wedding hours be split up?

A: While there may be times of the day that are slower, I'm there in your service regardless. Putting an hour or two between events isn't time that I'm able to use for anything personal outside of being "in wait" for shooting the rest of your wedding, + as such the hours are continuous.

Q: Do we get to choose our second photographer?

A: I have two amazing associate shooters who I have trained exclusively to fit Jasper K's specific style. These incredible associate photographers are also my little sisters. I have solid relationships with some pretty awesome photographers all over NM (and throughout the US) that I will hire to shoot with me if need be. I’ll definitely make sure you guys vibe together before your big day.  #wegotchuboo

Q: Do you bring your own lighting?

A: Yes, I bring my own off camera lighting + am fully proficient in shooting night-time wedding receptions + sparkler exits. :D

Q: How many hours do we need? 

A: Wedding coverage options range from 4 hours to full-day coverage; there is a 2 hour minimum for elopements + intimate weddings. The ideal coverage all depends on your wedding timeline + logistics. Usually a minimum 8 hours is enough time to photograph the ‘getting ready’ through the reception. I am more than happy to help you figure out exactly how many hours of coverage you need for your day! 

Q: DO you offer SPECIAL EFFECTS? 

A: I don’t provide props, but what I do use are tools to make my photographs interesting, bold, + fun. I'm always looking for creative ways to shoot whether it’s throwing a colorful smoke bomb behind you, using a prism to get cool light reflections, or shooting some super cool double exposures, I can guarantee you that your photos will definitely stand out + look bad ass on your insta feed. 

Q: What’s an ‘unplugged’ wedding? Should we do that? 

A: An unplugged wedding is when you STRONGLY encourage your guests to keep their phones and cameras down during the ceremony and key parts of the reception. I have a gallery of images of that I’d be happy to send you if you'd like to see examples. 

Q: DO YOU CARE IF WE DON'T DO A FIRST LOOK?

A: I do not! I don't require a first look + honestly don't have a really strong preference. As long as we plan your day strategically, you don't mind missing a bit of your cocktail hour/reception, + we have plenty of natural light left after the ceremony, it's ay-okay with me!

Q: Do you deliver sneak peak photos?

A: Hell freaking yes. Your instagram is about to be poppin'. Right after your wedding day, the first thing you want to do that week is shout it from the rooftops that you did the dang thaaang! I give all of my couples 'sneak peak' previews of about 20 edited photographs shortly after the wedding. That way they can post them on Instagram, Facebook, and all over social media for the world to see. 

Q: How many images will I end up with?

A: Each wedding is different —so it’s completely based on how many hours I am hired for and how much goes on come wedding day. My average delivery is about 60-75 images per hour, plus select duplicate black + white conversions! If there is a second shooter, there will be more images.

Q: How long will the online gallery be available?

A: For 90 days after the date they are released to you.

Q: When will I get to see my pictures?

A: For portraits sessions, I generally get your images up for you to see in 7 days. For weddings, no more than 4 weeks after your wedding. It’s 2018, #aintnobodygottimetowait 

Plus, you’ll get some sneak peeks along the way!

Q: Will you be sending every image you take, including unedited photos?

A: The only photos that I do not deliver is mid-blinking, blurry or unflattering photos that I know you won’t have any desire to print/have. I absolutely do not send any RAW (un-edited) photos – you’re hiring me for my editing style + trust that I will send you only the best photos.

Q: How do you deliver photos?

A: Online Gallery with full High-Resolution photos. No watermarks or logos will be on the photos. I’ll give you a download code so you have full access to your pictures and you can share/print away.

Q: Do we own the rights to the images?

A: I give written permission and a print release so that you can make unlimited copies and prints of your images (you know mom’s going to get #craycray printing photos!). So as long as you aren’t selling your images, entering them in photo contests, or submitting them to vendors or blogs without me knowing or without my permission, they are yours.

Q: Can you fix this in Photoshop?

A: The way I edit is very minimal. To give the image it's true likeness. I work hard to make sure that you love the way you look in my photographs! I do color/exposure corrections and some minor patching up if need be. Any extensive photoshop editing that you request will be $20 per photo.

Q: Do you offer albums (or any other products)?

A: Heck yes, I do. I freaking love albums. Nothing is better than seeing your images come to life on paper. Albums are not included in my packages, but rather A La Carte. Some couples even decide after their wedding to purchase an album! You pick the images, I design the album, and send it over to you for a final proof before we order it! Once we order it, it usually takes 4-8 weeks (sometimes sooner) to get the final album delivered on your doorstep. I also offer heirloom quality prints + canvases.

Q: What if I want my parents to have an album?

A: Not a problem! I offer parent album add ons that are exactly like your album just mini size! 

Q: Do I have to decide on ordering an album right now?

A: Not at all! You have 1 month from when your images are delivered to decide on the album and receive it at collection pricing. After the 1 month has expired, you may still order albums but they will be at the a la carte pricing.


the ones that you NEED to know ::


 

Q: What if you're sick on my wedding day, or something happens to you?

I would seriously have to be on my death bed to miss your wedding day! In the rare circumstance that happens, my trained second shooter would step into the role of lead photographer, + one of my other trained associates or a new second shooter would be found from a list of photographers whom I trust. In the case of my untimely death, I have systems in place to make sure my upcoming weddings would be photographed, + then weddings/sessions I've shot would be accessible + edited. You are completely covered. 

Q: Do i need a shot list?

Nope! I love to just shoot the day as it unfolds. However, I strongly recommend detailed lists of family members and groupings for family photos. I just want to make sure to snag a photo of all of your favorite peeps (they were chosen by you + your boo to be there for a special reason so I don't want to miss the opportunity of capturing their smiles!) If you want to share wedding inspiration with me, you can find my Pinterest here + give it a follow, but I strive to create new memories rather than copy other people's work. :)

Q: Can we see a full gallery?

Absolutely, homeslice! In fact, you should ask any photographer who you are inquiring with to see their full galleries! It’s super important to see a final finished product! I am more than happy to send you several galleries to see in their entirety. 

Q: We like what we see so where do we go from here?

Q: I can hire someone off of Craigslist to shoot my day for $50 — so why is good photography so expensive?

A: Because you get what you pay for. Working as a profession photographer is a very expensive endeavor. Equipment costs thousands of dollars (this includes camera bodies, lenses, and other crucial accessories) which has to be replaced every 2-3 years. This also includes: editing + photo management software (monthly/yearly fees), computer/additional hard drive space, cell phone, vehicle costs (gas, maintenance, insurance, repairs), business insurance, domain name, webhosting/website maintenance (monthly/yearly fees), client payment/management systems, CPA, + business cards. Continued education also has a heavy price tag, with an average of $1200+ per workshop not including travel expenses. There’s also the time that comes invested with each client. An average of 5-10 per session is spent post processing images (even more so for weddings). An average of 15-20 hours per week is dedicated to handling inquiries, client questions, filling out paperwork (contracts, receipts, invoices), scouting locations, backing up/culling/editing/delivering images, and let’s not forget about marketing (blogging, updating websites, facebook, instagram, pinterest, etc.) Additionally, as self-employed professionals, photographers pay an average of 30% of their income to taxes. 

 

Most importantly, you are hiring a photographer for their talent as an artist. 

For example: tattoos last a lifetime and you get exactly what you pay for. You wouldn’t go to the cheapest, inexperienced tattoo artist for something that is going to be on your body for the rest of your life, would you? Doubt it. Photography is much like a tattoo. These memories are what you are going to have to remember the best day of your life for the rest of your life. 

 

Take into consideration that in 5, 10, maybe even 20 years, these memories will be some of your most valuable and cherished possessions. You may lose important people in your life (heaven forbid that happens), but these could be your last memories of the ones you love. If that’s not worth more than $200, what is?
